چکیده
Abstract The Congo Basin is of global significance for biodiversity and the water carbon cycles. However, its freshwater availability distribution remain relatively unknown. Using satellite data, here we show that currently Basin’s Total Drainable Water Storage lies within a range 476 km 3 to 502 , unevenly distributed throughout region, with 63% being stored in southernmost sub-basins, Kasaï (220–228 ) Lualaba (109–169 ), while northern sub-basins contribute only 173 ± 8 . We further estimate hydraulic time constant draining entire storage be 4.3 0.1 months, but, regionally, permanent wetlands large lakes act as resistors resulting greater constants up 105 months. Our provides robust basis address challenges demand 120 million inhabitants, population expected double few decades.

Environmental policy and management of freshwater resources in the Haraz-Ghareh Su Basin in comparison to other Caspian sub basins
Haraz-Ghareh Su is one of the seven sub-basins of the Caspian basin, located on the southern shores of the Caspian Sea, and as such, is in danger of water crisis due to absence of proper systematic policy and strategy. In this study, the pressure factors on the Haraz-Ghareh Su water resources were identified using DPSIR model. Then, the pressure parameters on the freshwater resources in the Cas...

Geological evolution of the Indian and Pacific Ocean basins, including the Tethys Sea, is relevant to the evolution and distribution of Indo-Pacific freshwater fishes. Area cladograms derived from phylogenetic analyses of atherinomorph fishes are compared, in part, with those for plant bugs, cicadas and bats. Geologically and biologically composite islands in the Indo-Australian archipelago suc...
